The ceramic artist Lisa Stevens formerly worked as a sculptor at Aardman Animations, creator of Wallace and Gromit among other great films. Now she works to bring natural beauty to life in your home “taking inspiration from coral reefs, flowers, geology, moss and lichen.”
Influenced by the textures of nature, using the media of porcelain and black clay, I share my love of ceramics. Here you will find a selection of detailed small-scale sculptures, bowls, tiles and jewellery, both currently for sale and a gallery of my best work. Each piece is completely unique and individually sculpted by hand.
Through my work, I hope to highlight the issues that human activity has on the environment. Small differences in each of our behaviours can add up to make a big difference.
The intricate patterns are not created using stamps, texture sheets or moulds, instead I use a variety of small tools to build up the textures. This is a time-consuming process, but the end results are crisp, organic and each piece will be truly unique.
You can also find her on Instagram where she shows how she works the clay into these impossibly lovely shapes and colors.
