Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini

I always knew Scientology was bad, but this memoir by Leah Remini demonstrates just how poisonous it really is.

Starting from childhood, Remini was indoctrinated by the church and her family into the creepy ways of Scientology. They travelled the country to work at different church centers and even ended up at the paramilitary Sea Org.

From the outside, Scientology seems wild and you wonder who would fall for it, but in Remini’s case her involvement started as a child. If you’ve grown up with this church all around you and it is all you know, I can understand how she would just accept it. As an adult, Remini even gave millions to the church to fund their goal of converting the world to Scientology.

This book isn’t long, but it took me a while to read because it was so grim. I needed to take breaks after reading about the abuses inflicted on the members of this ridiculous faith. Highly recommended as long as you can stomach it.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
