Dying of Politeness by Geena Davis

Geena Davis in a yellow dress sitting across from a taxidermied bear at a table set for tea.

When Geena Davis was three years old, she decided to be an actor. In this fabulous book she tells the story of her life through to the present, and concludes that always being polite is not necessarily the best way to get through life. She questions the merits of politeness versus growing into the self-proclaimed badass she is today. She even started the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media – “If she can see it, she can be it.”

Fascinating book – recommended.
