Some simple food storage containers I can’t do without

You should see my freezer – overrun by these containers and organized with magical labels that dissolve in the dishwasher! Amazing but true… (I’m Gen X and we do ellipses…)

Plastic food storage containers full of different kinds of food.

They come in four sizes: 4 ounce, 8 ounce, 16 ounce, and 32 ounce. I don’t have any of the four ouncers because that’s pretty small, but the 8 ouncers are good for single servings of rice or a meal’s worth of pesto, for example. The 8 ounce can hold the leftovers from a box of broth. And the 32 ouncers are good for storing homemade broth when you make a huge pot of it, or for larger leftovers.

I also like these containers because they’re easy to open when frozen. You just unscrew them – and they’re very sturdy too. They don’t melt, warp, or buckle when you take them out of the freezer and put them straight into the microwave.

But I know you’re wondering about the magical dissolving labels. They’re popular in restaurant kitchens, but they work great at home. You use them as a regular label and then when you run the container through the dishwasher (or hand wash them) they completely dissolve. I haven’t had any trouble with them clogging the drain either. They’re fantastic.

So now you know how to fill your freezer with all that good food you’ve been meaning to meal prep. Let me know if you have better ways to do it!
